Some Combinations Are Just Classic Together

Some Combinations Are Just Classic Together

Some things just go naturally together. Peanut butter and jelly. Pink and purple. Macaroni and cheese. And a button up and jeans. I’ve been obsessed with Equipment lately, a brand that specializes in menswear for women, specifically button downs. While initially I did not see a need for more than one in my closet, I’ve become obsessed! And this obsession has only been fueled by recent markdowns at my store recently. A silk button down that originally retails for roughly $200, for $35 (after employee discount of course) how could I resist. So consider this a disclaimer for posts to come, I now am the proud owner of the classic Equipment silk button down in powder blue, baby pink, white, grey, and red. And I need more! Orange, green, purple, navy! You never know when you’re going to come across a pair of shoes that would pair perfect with a button down of a particular color! These are ambitions a pro fashionista needs to foresee and prepare for especially when the price is right!

Love my statement necklaces. This one is from J Crew.

While initially I believed button downs to be stuffy and boring, they can actually prove to be quite fun with the right accessories. And I think that’s why I’ve begun this love affair. Not only do they look chic, but to me they’re like a blank canvas ready to be painted with pretty accessories!

Marc, Coco, Alexander (Wang and McQueen) ….Gangs All Here!!!

Marc, Coco, Alex....Gangs All Here!!!

It’s not every day I wear a graphic day tee, but I’ve had my eye on this one for what seems like forever! While Dimepiece traditionally is slightly too Miley for my taste, I feel like this tee is a must have for the fashionista of our times. I’ve had my eye on this tee ever since I saw all my favorite bloggers doing features on the tee, and now thanks to an amazing deal on black Friday ($20?!) I was finally able to commit! Since Dimpieces is an urban label I pulled together my favorite pieces that collectively exude that “soldier of fashion” look. Camo pants by Textile Elizabeth and James and Ash sneaker wedges are the perfect pieces to celebrate the fact I’m a self proclaimed slave of fashion.

Cheers to the greats with this Dimpiece LA piece!

Walk A Mile in These Louboutins

Walk A Mile in These Louboutins

Growing up we weren’t allowed to dress like “Little Orphan Annie.” My moms words. I was always sick growing up with asthma, allergies or a combination of both. Good days were my cutest days. Same with my mom when she was sick. Her best days were days she had enough strength to put makeup on. Thus perhaps is the reason even though I may not live in Manhattan nor the Rodeo Drive, I still find that no excuse not to dress up in my Louboutins on my days off. I have my health and happiness and that’s enough for me to live life as if I’m the Carrie Bradshaw of the Inland Empire.

Yeah, I may live far from Rodeo, and my Louboutins might be a little scuffed but they tell a story. I leave a trail of glitter and fabulousness in my path and not even the most veteran red souled shoe lover could walk a mile in my Louboutins.

Walk a mile in my Louboutins...

Rock That Fashion Runway Show

Rock That Fashion Runway Show

Dress: Alexander Wang Shoes: Sergio Rossi

So after this week, I’m addicted to runway shows. And yesterday I discovered two things. First and most importantly I broke the cardinal rule for being a photographer. MAKE SURE YOU CHARGE YOUR BATTERY BEFOOOORE AN EVENT! Lesson learned, and thank you to the kind (insert sarcasm here) words of advice to carry around an extra battery pack. Also, I discovered a new found love for haute couture.

So I was pretty bummed when I found out I missed the official Style Week LA runway show on Thursday. LA is about an hour or so drive away from me (with traffic so it’s not really that bad.) But for gas purposes I had to choose my shows wisely. Thus my finale was Runway Magazines, “Rock That Fashion” post Style Week party.

Granted the press release had stated there would be a slew of celebrities there, but the only stars I saw were on the runway in the form of haute couture and bedazzled swim suits. It was love at first sparkle. The runway featured everything I could have ever hoped to witness on a catwalk. Drama, sparkle, fluff, a Madonna impersonation annd a tribute to legends of fashion including McQueen. If I had a drink in hand I would have raised a glass to the late and great designer.

Legend of Fashion and words of wisdom.

Ugh, so incredibly annoyed my camera only lasted 3 shows in. But the memories will last a life time. Such an incredible end to such a fun week! I found it incredibly fitting that almost everywhere I went last night Britney’s new song “Work Bitch” was playing. She’s right if you want something in life, ya gotta work bitch.

What trends did I spot during this season?

In LA, anything really goes (except to the lady who showed up in a poncho. Just, no.) All the bandage dresses were boring. I loved the girls taking risks! Black is always chic and classic. I loved all the pleated leather skirts! To the girl wearing the fuschia bedazzled Jimmy Choos, you win the best shoe award. Surprisingly I LOVE LOVE LOVE the hipsters chic use of denim. And braids are perhaps the hottest trend in hairstyles.

Who needs a crown when you can have royal braids?

Until next season Style Week!

One of the Vendors at Style Week LA That Stole My Heart

One of the Vendors at Style Week LA That Stole My Heart

One of the most exciting things about Style Week LA is being surrounded by emerging and passionate talent within the fashion world. There was a vendor for every fashionista, big, small, male, female and even four legged.

After the ordeal we went through this past week, trying to find a home for a lost dog (happy to report we reunited him with his owner only a few days later) the label that caught my attention was “From the Heart Doggie Wear.

What caught my eye first were the fringed ponchos. I’ve always said that if it’s smaller, naturally its cuter. And this little poncho was no exception. After all it’s getting colder and your pint sized pup is definitely going to need something stylish to keep him/her warm. Alright, From the Heart, you stole my heart and the prize for cutest collection goes to you.

Perhaps it was because the other vendorsn were tired, and probably over going over their story multiple times but the reps on hand, which included the designer for From the Heart Doggie Wear, Mylette Nora were by far the friendliest designers on hand. Nora was beyond thrilled to explain to me how her mini pincher, Pink inspires a lot of her pieces. I loved how she proudly directed me to the corner of her display where she showed me that she also has creations for a proud doggie owner to match their precious pup! I immediately blurted out the possibilities that were running through my mind for Christmas Card ideas!

Whether your dog is a little princess, diva, hipster or a fan of street wear there is a “From The Heart Doggie Wear” piece for him or her.

For the pup who appreciates a good urban outfit.

For those proud parents who want to keep their babies near and dear to their heart.

For the hipster in your little one. Are there matching boots for this one? I didn't ask but that would be amazing.

I think my Bella needs all of the above.

You Don’t Have To Wear A Baseball Cap to Support Your Team

You Don't Have To Wear A Baseball Cap to Support Your Team

Blazer and Top: BCBG. Necklace: Forever 21 Sunglasses: Linda Farrow for the Row

My outfit today was inspired by none other then my grandma who prior to me getting ready for the day called me to tell me the Dodgers had just scored! If you know me, you know I am not a sports girl. You’re lucky I know the difference between a baseball and a basketball, and I can count on one hand the amount of times I’ve showed up to a bar to actually watch a game. I’m going to tell you right now those adventures were never my idea but I went with it.

Nonetheless, my family is true to the blue. Dodger Blue that is. If you’re looking for a recap of the game, stop now because you will be severely disappointed. I just realized today I can support the Pinedo family’s team beyond investing in a team shirt from Victoria’s secret. Instead, I can just make a proclamation to the world by rocking our team’s colors. Thus, fellow fashionistas we have today’s ensemble. A Dodger Blue blazer by BCBG, and matching sparkly blue Chanel heels.

Go Dodgers!

LA Style Week Officially A Hit For Us Little Fashion Bloggers!

LA Style Week Officially A Hit For Us Little Fashion Bloggers!

Dress: Rebecca Taylor Shoes: Chanel Jewelry: Tarina Tarantino

Oh and also the designers who put a TON of hard work putting together memorable shows.

Ok, so LA Fashion week is yet to be held at the same level as New York, Paris or Milan. We are not about our name brands, but rather about our own names. Los Angelinos, while I’m sure are just as bad at being label whores as some of New York’s most elite (I’ll be first to put my name on that list) take more pride in promoting our individual style as opposed to a massive fashion house.

So first things first. This was my first official “LA Fashion Week” runway show. Yes, earlier in the year I attended Project Ethos which is a great event affiliated with Fashion Week however they are more an after party with great participants. Still a lot of fun, just less official. Tonight, I ventured out to LA Live (which if you ever decide to do this, please carry cash with you so you can park for half the price across the street rather than $25 at the venue.) Alas, I arrived and checked in at the media table.

What I love about the setup is the moment you walk through you’re treated like a VIP and given the option to walk the red carpet. Which naturally I did. Drinks are complimentary and there is an overabundance of local vendors promoting their collections. Some of which I’ll highlight in future blog posts to come.

The fun really began when the tents for the runway shows opened, and the models began strutting down the runway. Because of traffic (again) I missed the first two shows. Prohibition on flash photography prohibited me from taking decent pictures of the first show I attended, XCVI.

Fortunately, for me a sweet fellow fashionista, or fashionisto I suppose, saw me struggling to use my overly efficient camera and offered to give me some tips prior to the next show. Which was in my opinion the best show of the evening.

The show that closed tonight’s event was “Day by Day” an LA based collection of So. Cal loungewear. All the collections I saw today were the epitome of So. Cal chic. What better way to go about your day to day routines than in some comfy loungewear? Lord knows when doing extensive traveling or just having a relaxing “me” day I love a good track suit complete with matching jacket and bottoms. And let me tell you from experience this combo is perfect for long hour flights. It’s like the fashion gods said “here is the answer to your need of cute and cozy travel wear.” More of a cute tee gal? “Day by Day” has a piece for you too! This collection already has an extensive celebrity following including Alessandra Ambrosio and Kourtney Kardashian.

And speaking of the Kardashians, the Jenner girls and Scott Disick made an appearance at the show as well! I was fortunate to get a photo opp with Kylie Jenner after the show, and let me tell you the girl is gorgeous. Both of the girls seemed very reserved, not seeking attention by any means but rather just showing up to support something they love, LA FASHION!
