I made a promise to myself earlier in the year I would invest in more summer dresses. Earlier in the week, my co-worker brought to my attention this lovely little number. I gasped as though the fashion gods themselves had created a summer dress just for me. Although I wish it came in more vibrant colors, it was created by one of my favorite labels, Wildfox. Listen up ladies! Their dresses are just as fab as their oh so comfy sweaters! They always seem to know just what a girly girl needs to make a piece perfect. Take my dress for example, a mirror that looks like it came straight from the illustrations or movie still from one of my favorite Disney Princess movies, and puffy lace sleeves. Pure princess perfection. I have visions of myself traveling down the coastline of So Cal this summer and I imagine this dress would be the perfect piece for such a mission! In the meantime dresses are not only once again a relevant and meaningful form of expression (especially when they have the words, “You’re gonna need me” printed on the front.) Rather they really are the perfect way to beat the heat. I highly recommend chiffon as a material of choice, anything flowy to add a touch of drama when a gust of refreshing evening wind decides to pass through. Especially if you plan on taking pictures! Be careful though as to not wear something too flowy on an exceptionally blustery day. The only time a Marilyn Monroe moment is appropriate is if you’re name is Marilyn Monroe, or your intention is to re-create that epic cinematic moment.
My boyfriend hates that I get ready for no reason at all. I guess I’m the one of those girls who “get’s all dressed up with nowhere to go.” But as long as I’m healthy that’s a good enough reason for me to get dressed up for the day! Once again, I learned that from my mama. Even on some of her worse days she still found strength to do her hair and makeup and if it’s one lesson I keep with me always it’s to find the strength to play in makeup even though the world might not get to see.
Hair and makeup are only half the battle though. That’s where I compromise and I “dress down” for a day of lounging around and spending quality time with my hunny. Then I thank the fashion gods for giving us Wildfox. The answer to the girl with nothing to do’s prayers, Wildfox always has cute tee’s and comfy sweaters with fun sayings and pictures of destinations I’d love to adventure off to one day. Today I was clearly dreaming of being in Hawaii. While I love to match things through contrast, today I opted to synchronize my top and bottoms to have them flow effortlessly into one piece. Sadly, this was meant to be a top but being pint size it ended up fitting me more like a dress. However it was far too sheer and a little short in the front, thus I was inspired to go the matching shorts route. Can you tell? Not only is this top the answer to a lazy day’s fashion prayers but it has potential to totally be re-worked as a cover up for my days spent at the beach, which hopefully are only just a few weeks away! Malibu Beach Barbie anyone?
The daily routine of deciding what to wear for the day becomes exhausting sometimes. Especially when you have so many great options for layering during frigid temperatures. Sometimes it’s hard for a girly girl who loves her dresses to find a compromise during severely cold winter days. (Yesterday it was only 40 DEGREES! I had to ask a co-worker what they thought the miniature temperature was before one died of hypothermia. I was delightfully informed I was nowhere near being in danger of such a death.) While today I started with a high-waisted pleated skirt, I stepped outside for two seconds and realized that would not work. Alas, I scoured the Wildfox section of my closet and was saved (quite literally the fashion angels in my head rejoiced with glee.)
Not only are Wildfox sweaters super comfy, but they are so cute and girly too! Initially when this sweater caught my eye I thought it was a unicorn. A purple unicorn sweater?! Yes please! But alas, it’s just a horse of many different colors. Still equally amazing, and still the perfect compromise for ridiculously cold winter days. Cute meet the cold! On the chilliest of days I’m thinking even an accenting colored collared shirt (say that 5 times fast) would not only compliment and add pizzaz to the piece but would also add warmth. That might perhaps be one of my greatest ideas, like ever.
First of all, THANK YOU Wildfox for creating my go to Halloween shirt. Who doesn’t love a smiley face top with fangs? Just call me Jessie the Pumpkin Slayer! Although, if you ask my boyfriend or my Grandma apparently this outfit screams Julia Roberts “Pretty Woman.” Interpret that how you’d like.
After the Pumpkin Patch we ventured over to South Coast where I got compliments everywhere I went on my outfit! Some guy practically chased after me to tell me my outfit rocked. Thanks again kind sir! Finally I had to confess. The reasoning behind the decision to sport these absolutely awesome Sam Edelman boots was for reasons of vanity and concealment more so than anything else. While out getting my Barbie girl on this past weekend I fell and banged my knee up pretty bad. This would mark the second time I’ve skinned that particular knee. Such is the price to pay whilst looking cute wearing wedges. So if you see me covering my knees over the next couple of weeks, it’s due not just to the colder weather but rather a ghastly bloody gooey mess that was simply the result of fashion gone horribly wrong.
I have gone on rants before about how much I love Wildfox. However, with LA Fashion Week, or Style Week as it is so stylishly referred to now I am carefully selecting my outfits for the next few days based on their relation to LA. What better way to represent one of the Fashion epicenters of the world then by promoting home town success stories right?
Thus ladies and fashion forward gents, I bring you my outfit of the day. Entire outfit with the exception of the glasses (Prada) and shoes (Valentino) LA inspired and made.
And yes my loyal followers, the rumors are true and I have been approved media to cover next weeks events! So stay tuned for all the latest fashion debuting on the runways of LA!
So it’s no secret I’m a Wildfox whore. I mean hello, its’ as if my 7-year old persona joined forces with Rainbow Bright and Barbie and decided to put forth a clothing line.
Thus whenever I see a post on any social media outlet that something new and exciting happened I squeal for joy and look for exactly how bad my bank account is going to be damaged. Sorry Boo!
Yesterday, a small part of me died and wished I was in Miami when I saw Wildfox was debuting their swim collection at Mercedes Benz Miami Fashion Week. Naturally, the collection does not disappoint!
From cute and cozy cover ups to bright and bold two pieces, like Sharpey Evans in HSM3, I want it all!
Pumpkin Spice lattes aren’t the only thing I have to look forward to this Fall! Wildfox just announced their inspiration behind the coming season’s must have collection! Inspired by the “Great Gatsby” phenomenon comes “Daisy’s Girls.”
Head designer Kimberley Gordon released a statement behind the inspiration for the collection via the Wildfox Facebook page, “It’s amazing how we are approaching the 20’s again, but for our generation! I was really inspired by this decade for the first time in my life. Generally, I’d found the subject a bit dull, but after re-reading The Great Gatsby I realized it really felt so Wildfox! Parties all the time, driving into town, spending money, falling in love, big mansions and gardens, the ocean, brewing your own alcohol, best friends and broken hearts…it’s just so amazingly fun. It was all sparkle, true love, dancing, and champagne!”
And I have to give Wildfox two major thumbs up for another spot on campaign! Kudos to the designers and creative directors on this project for making me want to immediately place an order for a prohibition sweater, pop on the Gatsby soundtrack (skip quickly to Beyonce and Andre 3000’s eery rendition of “Back to Black”) and start reading the American classic.
Cheers Wildfox. You’ve done it again.
