So it’s no secret I’m obsessed with trends. I’m a self diagnosed “shopaholic” but is there such a thing as being a fashion-a-holic? I should look look in to this.
One of the greatest things I stumbled upon today was this picture of Ashley Tisdale wearing this “Celfie” tee. Obviously a play on Celine. One of the biggest trends I’ve noticed lately is plaster a fashion house typically affiliated with top quality material on basic tees, tanks and yes even canvas! Considering Chanel made a name for herself by being one of the first to master the use of jersey, I really don’t think she minds. Karl Langerfield on the other hand, his eyes are probably rolling behind his dark shades.
Naturally I immediately immersed myself in to an intense google search only to be led to another blogger/ designer, Sincerely Jules. And with my luck this ridiculously cute tee that is only $35 aka practically free, is sold out. Ugh. I guess I’ll just have to wait till the stock is replenished.
This “Celfie” tee is not the first nor the last graphic tee we’ve seen recently. Interpretations of the double C logo have been gracing tanks and tees in small boutiques for some time now. And who can forget the “Ain’t Laurent without the Yves” shirt.
Believe it or not this shirt is only $10 on ebay. I have my reservations about $10 shirts though…cheap cotton, yikes!
Ugh, I guess if I can’t have this one I’ll settle for the Dimepiece “Too Cool Shirt.” Why settle for one designer when you can have them all?
Kenneth Jay Lane cross necklace
Many many years ago for Christmas my grandma got me and my sisters each a 4 ft tall jewelry box. At the time I only had Libby Lu jewelry pieces. She had also gotten us some really fine gold and silver pieces, but I’ve always been more into costume and statement pieces so regrettably those have never made it past the bottom drawer. Maybe one day I’ll develop a taste for the finer pieces the jewelry world has to offer, and God help my bank account when that day comes. Either way, I’m beyond grateful my Grandma thought ahead to this time in my life when I am now OBSESSED with jewelry!
Needless to say I have always been a costume jewelry junky. I was talking to one of my friends yesterday who reminded me how excited I was the day I came home with my first large pave crystal encrusted Tarina Tarantino necklace. “God that thing was ugly” he exclaimed, but I till this day loved that piece and all my statement pieces!
These past few weeks I have become hopelessly devoted to gold pieces. It all started with me realizing my jewelry collection lacked this color scheme, so I started with some gold bangles, then a simple gold ring then some necklaces and now I feel as though I can officially devote a whole drawer of my jewelry box to the color! And have sub categories too! Too any of my fellow OCD fashionistas you completely who completely understand this concept, I appreciate you’re passion for keeping the closet organized and I applaud you.
Now, I can’t help but continue to add to my collection. Recently I’ve added this black enamel and more then likely rhodium plated Kenneth Jay Lane cross. And to add more funk and spirit to any outfit I could not pass up on this amazing cheetah ring only $8 from one of my new favorite jewelry stops Charming Charlie. And of course, I have officially become that girl who wants to sing from the high heavens with Julie Andrews my love for my boyfriend. And since I am no where near the Swiss Alps, a gold initial necklace featuring my Boo’s initials will suffice. I figure this is a nice alternative to the infamous “I love my boyfriend” shirt.
Perhaps it’s time I move on to silver. After all I just got a silver ring and some matching earrings, but no necklace to go with. Looks like this girl has to go on another shopping adventure!
Since I first introduced my wardrobe to printed jeans a few months ago, I have been on a mission to add friends! Needless to say when I saw these amazing mint green and white pin striped pair by Vigos, I could not help myself.
While I adore me some good ol’ fashioned blue jeans, I love the personality that comes with printed jeans. For example, my outfit today completely started off with a basic tee and some beige oxfords. But one look in the mirror and I decided these pants needed an outfit with more pizazz. When I first saw them, someone said they looked like train conductor pants. And what better accessory to embrace this concept then a train conductor hat!
As mentioned in a previous blog entry, printed pants can really be accentuated with a plain tee, but as I discovered today, accessories can just take the outfit to a whole other level of fabulousness.
Pastels are the perfect way to go for Spring, but I am coo coo for coco puffs over the “beatlejuice” pants, which for me are not only work appropriate but fun and classic all in one. Looks like there is another excuse for me to venture out to the mall!

So after a month or so of the store officially being open, I finally ventured out to experience the 2 story greatness.
Located at the Grove in LA, Top Shop is everything I could have hoped and dreamed it would be. When you walk in, the sight of all the clothes, styles and trend stories literally is enough to take ones breath away. I’d be lying if I said I did not squeal for joy. The first thing I saw, was this uber cute, very structured floral lantern bandeau dress. (Lately I’ve had a thing for structured pieces.) I was afraid of price points but considering the design that was put into the majority of the pieces, I’d say they were pretty reasonable with a few notable exceptions. The exceptions to these price points? $20 for a basic cropped tee? No thanks. And most of the pieces were made of polyester, but again they have notable accents in design, and embellishments so people such as myself who have reservations about investing into polyester experience no buyers remorse.
I fell head over heels in LOVE for their screen print skirts! This one had two slits on each side of the skirt making it easier to walk in.
I was only half way through the first floor of the store when I realized I had a pile that was already growing bigger then me. I thought I was in trouble but then my friend pointed out they have a PETIT section! Let it be known this is perhaps one of my favorite things about Top Shop! There is something for all body types and the thing that always lacks from Forever 21, and H&M. Then one of the friendly associates started a fitting room for me in the personal shoppers side of the store. This aspect of the store reminded me of Nordtstroms for some reason. The idea to enhance the customer service experience is there, but the execution falls somewhat short. I was put in a beautiful fitting room, offered water etc. But the service kind of stopped there. I was not given alternative suggestions, offered a variance of sizes etc. Perhaps it was because I brought one of those brutally honest friends who told me when one piece was simply not working. Friends like that are rare but appreciated.
Unfortunately this piece was not available in petit, and I looked like I was drowning in the fabric. But with a few alterations and this would be amazing!
I ended up walking away with a super cute black and white striped mini dress and a very retro floral print, black and white skirt. Only $140 spent! Not too bad! I probably could have done a lot more damage if I was not focused on expanding my work wardrobe.
I loved the structure of the sleeves in this piece!
So after watching New York, London and Paris fashionistas do their thang at their respective fashion weeks, finally fellow Los Angeles fashion lovers our time is almost here! So, ok we are not going to have Chanel, Burberry or even Marc Jacobs participate but in the spirit of LA fashion, that is just fine.
LA Fashion Week is more about celebrating the styles that make LA Fashion whimsical, sassy, genuine and unique. Don’t get me wrong, in LA we love our labels but we also love using fashion as means of expressing ourselves and our individual spirit as well.
I couldn’t be more thrilled to actually get to enjoy a show this year! (In past years I’ve volunteered behind the scenes at the Vibiana.) This year I’ll be attending the Project Ethos event, which is a runway, art exhibit and runway all in one.
So naturally I’m doing my research and seeing who is all participating. In doing research I’ve stumbled upon an AMAZING shoe collection that reminds me of an eco friendly version of Jeffrey Campbell. The collection is by an up and coming 22 year-old, Los Angeles based designer Deandri. The label, which includes clothing, shoes and jewelry takes classic fashion favorites and has added a unique twist to it. Case in point, check out their clear oxford. OMG! Can I get 3?! This label definitely captures the spirit of Angeleno’s tendancies to embrace classics and re-imagine them with spirit.
Is it Tuesday yet?
While I have yet to venture out to a Top Shop, (still can’t believe I’m only an hour away from the closest one eek!) I know I’m sold on the goods they have to offer before I even step through the door.
And this video is just a reminder as to why I love their concept. It’s rumored that their concept to production to delivery to the fashionistas around the globe’s closet is impeccable. Umm did we not just see these looks on the runway? Bold prints, bright colors, vintage looking lace pieces. The graffiti print leather jacket with the studs…AMAZING! Does this piece remind anyone else of the paint splattered clutch featured in the Carrie Diaries? No? Just me? I can deal with that.
Top Shop? More like one stop shop!
Kudos to the rebellious fashionistas who could not be tamed by CBS’ dress code (ahem Rihanna.) I love how all the various trends of the season were represented such as symmetrical patterns, pastels and black and white. Also, shout out to Rihanna for representing one of the hottest trends this season the multi finger pinky ring (I like this better then simply describing it as just a smaller ring.)
One of the hottest trends of the season is wearing a small ring half way down one of your favorite phalanges.
Taylor Swift, love the girl and her sense of style but her awards show attire is becoming quite predictable. But in all fairness her style suits her so moving on.
While I get CBS implemented a stricter dress code, and I appreciate the structured and sophisticated looks that fell within these guidelines as represented by Kaley Cuoco and Beyonce, my favorite look of the evening goes to Katy Perry and her mint green, form fitting Gucci dress.
I feel like this outfit is more appropriate for cocktails or martinis. I do love her Giuseppi Zanotti’s though.
Pardon me while I go all Joan Rivers for a second, but I loved everything about this dress. It was sexy, classy, and complimented her silhouette perfectly. I loved the jewels around the neckline. And ok, this shade of mint green is one of my absolute FAVORITE spring time colors.
Katy looks glam in Gucci
Thank you Katy for reminding us we don’t have to endure the chilly temperatures that only penguins could appreciate much longer.
