So while my entire inner circle is glued to their TV set, and my boyfriend has a screaming match with our own flat screen, I utilized the perfect weather and sunny day as an opportunity for a blog shoot. I don’t watch football and I learned very very young that football Sunday is the perfect opportunity to be out and about and get stuff done. Thank you football league! (Is that what it’s called? Don’t know, don’t care.)

I really contemplated returning what I initially thought was a dress. After trying it on I think it might have been designed to be more of a shirt. Luckily, because I’m petit sometimes even long shirts work perfect as a dress for me. On the flip side of that some dresses are just devastatingly too long because they’re made for girls that I imagine to be at least 5’10. Sadly, I have some skirts that hang in my closet simply because I thought even with heels they would work, but alas the only way they’re going to fit is with a trip to a seamstress. So what is a girl to do when she loves a piece that is shockingly too short? Why do what I call the “mom trick” and just throw some shorts underneath! When I was younger I used to have to wear shorts under almost everything. Not only was it annoying and sometimes too much on a hot day, but it was just not fashion forward at all. Thank God someone realized this was a problem for young fashionistas in the making and invented skorts. Whoever that was, sir or ma’am, I applaud you. Nonetheless, for fear of exposing too much skin today I resorted to the ancient but useful tradition of throwing shorts under a dress. And surprisingly it worked! Nothing like some lace shorts adding a little flare to the short hem of a shirt dress!

Huh, what’d you know? My mom knew something about something after all!

They're subtle, but peeking out from under the dress are my favorite black lace Free People shorts.

While my boyfriend opted to spend the day in pajamas and in bed all day, I opted to throw my heels on and have a little fun with fashion. Polka dots and sparkles? Umm hello girly Sunday! While I should have strayed as far away from black as possible due to the fact my 10 day vacation ends today and it’s back to work tomorrow, I guess this is my way of saying I can’t wait to get back to work. I’m not used to just sitting around and doing nothing. I’m one of those people that has to remain a contributing member of society even on my days off (hence is partially the reason I began this little blog.)

I like my jewelry pink and sparkly. Thank the Fashion Gods for designers like Tarina Tarantino who design with fashionistas like me in mind.

While I’m not completely the girl that does chores in her heels (unless I’m breaking them in) I guess I’m the girl that wears heels even on her days off. My grandma warns me against this all the time. She too was a heel lover and was punished with two knee surgeries. I know the consequences but I have a soft spot for soft black leather. Especially Gucci leather.
