Denim Jacket: Free People Bikini Top: H&M Lace Shorts: Free People (I know I blog about these a lot and I promise I own different pairs, these ones just kind of go with everything. Great investment!)
This morning when I was getting ready my boyfriend inquired about the fuss when all I was doing was just going to the beach. “It’s just going to wash off,” he said. Little does he know, or actually he does know he just always chooses to forget, that my biggest fear in life is that I’m going to be makeup-less and hair a skew and BAM, there Zac Efron is going to be at the gas station. It’s gonna happen I just know it and I plan on being prepared for that moment. So as a result of this fear every excursion I take becomes a fashion show, and today the beach was my runway!
So growing up in the OC, or even LA ( I lived on the boarder of the counties and affiliate myself with whichever region I feel appropriate at the time. Today we’ll go with the OC) it was literally almost impossible to prepare a wardrobe around the weather. In the morning it would be cold and cloudy, but by noon the sun would be breaking through in full force and consequently the day would end sunny and about 80 degrees. I was nicknamed by my history teacher a bag lady due to my desire to be comfy and chic all at the same time. At the very least I hope I left the impression of a stylish bag lady.
Today I was reminded just how bipolar living in So Cal can be. This morning I watched the sun rise over a cloudy and dreary Pacific Ocean. However, by the time I was ready to hit the sand, the sun was beaming beautifully over some glistening blue waves. Side note: The tide at Salt Creek right now is intense, and you’re not allowed to go beyond knee deep water without fins. Sorry you were not born a merman boo.
I had been on a mission for a good denim jacket for about 2 years. I was ecstatic when I found these little Free People gem.
Ashley Tisdale was one of the pioneers in the fringed *L Space bikini top last summer
Ok, this So. Cal gal has had enough of being cold. I have pretty dresses and cute tanks in my closet that are getting tired of just hanging around. And I’m tired of the rain.
Last weekend it was 80 degrees! I had friends that were lounging on the sunny beaches in January (one of the many reasons I will never ever leave Cali.) But that wonderful weather got me thinking, about what to start shopping for for this summers uniform for lounging by the pool.
I must admit, last year the bar was set when Ashley Tisdale was spotted wearing an *L Space fringed neon yellow bikini on the beaches in Malibu to celebrate her birthday. Did I immediately want one? Heck yes!
*L Space fringed bikini, available at Urban Outfitters in multiple colors starting at $73.
I’ve actually LOVED these bikini’s ever since I saw them on the runway 2 summers ago at OC Weekly’s annual summer soiree event. But leave it to one of my favorite trend setters to convince me this *L Space piece is not only to die for, but a must have. Also a friendly reminder that summer is not too far away and I should have started hitting the gym hard like yesterday!
Style tips to keep in mind when shopping for a swim suit.
1. Keep it classy, not trashy.
2. Have fun with it! I personally love to mix and match pieces. And let’s face it swim suits can get to be pretty expensive. For example, the piece that is haunting my summer dreams is the fringed bikini top which starts at a price point of about $73 (available at Urbanoutfitters.com.) However, keep in mind H&M usually starts their swim suits off at a price point of about $5! Why not invest in an uber cute top and then get multiple bottoms from a more economical friendly retailer? The pros of this? Not only will you have a one of a kind piece, but you’ll also be able to invest in multiple pieces to change up the look!
Last summer I bedazzled a pink bikini from Victoria Secret to make sure my piece was unique and one of a kind. Ugh, is it summer yet?
Rain rain go away. Or on second thought, hang around until I can afford to invest in one of these cute pieces.
When I was younger, all my friends would come to school with their hair in french braids. So one day I asked my mom if she could french braid my hair and she said she didn’t know how but she knew how to fish tail. Naturally, I wanted to learn how to do this magic braid, so I practiced on my Barbie’s head until I perfected this braid.
But alas, nobody else in 4th grade cared about the fish tail braid. The french braid still ruled the class room. Then, the scenario came and replayed itself out during my Club Libby Lu years when a hair style called for a french braid. WHY DID NOBODY APPRECIATE THE FISHTAIL!
Well alas, the tables have turned and the fish tail could not be a hotter commodity! Take that you stinky french braid! Lauren Conrad goes over in this very cute, trendy and uber easy to do hair style in just a few simple steps. I personally love choosing this simple “do” when I don’t feel like getting up 20 minutes earlier just to straighten my hair.
