Trend Alert: Striped Jeans

Trend Alert: Striped Jeans

Since I first introduced my wardrobe to printed jeans a few months ago, I have been on a mission to add friends! Needless to say when I saw these amazing mint green and white pin striped pair by Vigos, I could not help myself.

While I adore me some good ol’ fashioned blue jeans, I love the personality that comes with printed jeans. For example, my outfit today completely started off with a basic tee and some beige oxfords. But one look in the mirror and I decided these pants needed an outfit with more pizazz. When I first saw them, someone said they looked like train conductor pants. And what better accessory to embrace this concept then a train conductor hat!

As mentioned in a previous blog entry, printed pants can really be accentuated with a plain tee, but as I discovered today, accessories can just take the outfit to a whole other level of fabulousness.

Pastels are the perfect way to go for Spring, but I am coo coo for coco puffs over the “beatlejuice” pants, which for me are not only work appropriate but fun and classic all in one. Looks like there is another excuse for me to venture out to the mall!

In case you needed a reminder of all the MUST HAVE TRENDS for spring 2013…Top Shop’s got you covered

While I have yet to venture out to a Top Shop, (still can’t believe I’m only an hour away from the closest one eek!) I know I’m sold on the goods they have to offer before I even step through the door.

And this video is just a reminder as to why I love their concept. It’s rumored that their concept to production to delivery to the fashionistas around the globe’s closet is impeccable. Umm did we not just see these looks on the runway? Bold prints, bright colors, vintage looking lace pieces. The graffiti print leather jacket with the studs…AMAZING! Does this piece remind anyone else of the paint splattered clutch featured in the Carrie Diaries? No? Just me? I can deal with that.

Top Shop? More like one stop shop!

Confessions of a retail warrior

Ok, so a warrior might be a tad dramatic. But if you have ever worked in a customer service oriented environment, then you know and understand that maybe that title is not dramatic enough. Anyways, this confession is more of a plea to my friends and fellow consumers. Please for the love of baby Jesus, do not wear clothes, and then return them! This is wrong on so many levels, and it baffles me why people don’t understand how incredibly horrible this is.

Yes, I’ve seen people that I know and love go on Facebook, yelp, 4 square etc., and rant about how horrible a manager was for not returning an item they simply changed their mind about. As one friend put it, “yes, I wore it you ignorant woman, I changed my mind!” Love that particular individual to death, but on a daily basis I encounter that same particular argument with somebody else’s bestie.

As a girl who fully believes in everybody’s perogative┬áto be able to change their mind, I get that. But folks, other people should not have to suffer because you can never make up your mind. And the “well Nordstroms lets me return everything” excuse is just getting old.

How are other people suffering you might ask? Have you ever gone into a store and thought to yourself wow, there is nobody here? Have you ever noticed this especially happens in January? Think about it! After Christmas, what does everyone do? They return! Despite what you may think, even huge companies have budgets! I know, shocked me when I found out about that too. But if too many people return, and worst return merchandise that cannot be sold again simply for the integrity and possibility of violating some health code, then believe it or not even big companies cannot afford to have associates on the sales floor. And thus begins a vicious cycle.

Too many returns because everyone believes they should be the exception to the rule, means not enough people on the sales floor. Without people to help on the sales floor, less merchandise gets sold. When less merchandise gets sold, associates get even less hours and smaller pay checks and thus less money is getting invested back into the economy.

So next time you think that ignorant manager behind the counter is simply exercising her right to say no simply to ruin your day, don’t take it so personally.

Today is a day I wish I had a really long drive to make, because the new Taylor Swift album just dropped. Tonight millions of fans across the world are going to lock themselves in a room and reminisce on all their relationships, past and present gone good and gone bad, then gone good again only to leave you more heartbroken and bluer then you thought the first round. Then after the whole album is said and done before you apologize to your repeat button for the subsequent abuse it is going to receive from being hit so many times tonight, you’re going to wish Taylor Swift was your best friend so you can give her a hug, and then text all of your BFFs about how much you love the new album.

In typical me fashion, I have been preparing for this day since the last Taylor album dropped. But as the day got closer I could not help but find my fascination with the color red only nearly over power my life long love for pink. Something only my beloved T Swift could accomplish. But how else has Taylor influenced my personal style?

I’d like to give her credit for introducing me to cowgirl boots, but alas I’m the grandaughter of a real cowboy so I’ve been wearing those since before I could walk. But she did introduce me to the concept of rocking my boots with my favorite girly dress.

Recently, I can blame her for my obsession with red lipstick (although if I’m being completely honest that partially coincides with it officially being fall now.) Next time I visit one of my favorite hairstylists I’m going to ask for bangs, and I’m really really loving her Hampton inspired wardrobe lately. Seriously, does anyone else see her and Jackie O hanging along the coast in Cape Cod, and looking oh so fab doing so?

Taylor Swift must be commended for proving that sex does not have to be what sells and defines an artists’ success. She has proved since the beginning of her career that you can stay true to your self, and dress no different then the princess’ little girls grow up admiring anyways, and that’s in pretty dresses and pretty shoes.

Taylor, thank you. Just thank you.
