It kills me that the predominant colors in my dress code for work are black and white. But sometimes, on rare occasions I find ways to jazz up even the most mundane colors on the color wheel.
Typically I infuse splashes of color with shoes, jewelry or a sparkly head piece of some sorts. But sometimes, classic is classic and today I discovered you can never go wrong with a lace, pearls and peplum.
This would even be a perfect day into night piece! If you’re thinking to yourself this ensemble would have been perfect with a pair of heels, you better believe I had my Prada peep toes in my bag in the event I felt inspired to jazz things up at some point during the day.
Celebrities who look pretty in peplum too.
First and foremost let it be said, that this fashionista can no longer take it and it is a new life ambition of mine to attend New York Fashion Week at least once in my life. Let the tap ramen diet commence so I can save up…but moving on.
Loved Taylor’s use of metalics combined with soft shades of violet and rose. Now this is how a girly girl does fall!
So Rebecca Taylor is a label that is typically associated with exuding uber girly, very feminine pieces. Think of Taylor Swift and Reece Witherspoon as the Rebecca Taylor girl. Simply fabulous, classic and feminine. Perhaps Fall is more for structured labels such as Alexander Wang and Helmut Lang. I’ll give it to Taylor, while at first I was taken back by her first few pieces debuted on the runway, she seemed to save the best for last.
My FAVORITE pice was a two toned navy and grey peplum top. (As seen above.) First of all, I’m so glad the peplum trend is continuing! But never before have I seen a ruffle with so much drama! Gasp! This piece is a must have for sure!
Throughout her show it was her pieces that were more traditional to the Rebecca Taylor name, such as her flowy skirts, bold but feminine prints and of course her use of rose pink. Her rose pink leather jacket was to die for! Although, if I’m being completely honest I fell head over 6 inch heels, Carrie loves Big, in love with all of her outerwear pieces.
While I get Fall imposes a “dress code” of color and structure so to speak, I was not a fan of the dark colors and bulky pieces in this collection
celebrities wearing peplum dresses
One of the many many things I love about fall is the fact that obvi its a new season, and with a new season comes NEW TRENDS! And one of my new favorite trends this season is peplum dresses! If you’re a self proclaimed girly girl, such as myself I highly recommend this dress that is perfect for the fall and upcoming winter season.
The peplum dress is a dress that looks like a modern twist to a princess ball gown. In a nutshell the peplum is your basic sheath dress with a splash of ruffle to accentuate your hips aka your glamourous hour glass figure. Fellow fashionistas have described these statement makers as “pure magic.” A pretty, magic, dress? Yes please!
One of the best things about the peplum dress is that they come in all colors, styles and cost ranges. I’ve seen them carried everywhere from Forever 21 and Papaya to higher end department stores and celebrity adored labels such as Alice and Olivia. Fashion bloggers and fashionistas rave that this dress is perfect for the girl on the go. Just change up your accessories and into some flats and ta da! A perfect day in to night dress!
After hearing so many great things and seeing for myself how the dress compliments so many silhouettes I can’t wait till my budget permits me to get one to add to my fall wardrobe!
