Dress: Owl Fish Shoes: Alice and Olivia Sunnies: Miu Miu Hat: Charming Charlie
The other day my boyfriend and I ventured out on an errand run to Lowes to pick up some odds and ends. As we walked up and I grabbed a cart to place my beloved Olivia in he asked, “Do you ever feel a tad over dressed?” Without hesitation I responded, never. Here’s the thing about being a fashionista, one does not dress to impress the ordinary. Every day is an excuse to look your best and in this triple digit heat the options can become challenging. Since as long as I can remember a summer dress has always been my go to wardrobe staple. So naturally I was delighted when I stumbled upon this cute dress that exuded nautical summer fun.
When you look at something and literally think to yourself, “oo now this is fun!” you naturally have to compliment it with equally fabulous accessories, thus the accent with my favorite bubblegum wedges by Alice and Olivia and multi colored bangles. Designers in their collections always seem to say how they are inspired by the movement and colors of the season. This outfit I’d say is completely and totally inspired by my favorite summer things- cotton candy ice cream, sunshine, nautical vibes (cause yes that’s totally a thing) and daydreaming of that perfect summer getaway.
Dreaming of taking this outfit on the road, like to Paris or maybe Rome.
Happy February all! And happy it’s been! I’ve stepped up to the plate and accepted (well nobody really challenged me except myself) a Style Challenge for the month of February. Initiated by fellow fashion blogger, Hilary Rushford there is a theme each day. Which can I tell you is extremely helpful and so much fun! I always enjoy putting outfits together but now that each day is a theme, I can actually pre-game an outfit, complete with accessories and shoes and kill it! It’s almost like every day is Valentines Day except instead of just focuses on fashion there’s also days for beauty and accessories as well. For example, one day was “Bold Kissable Lips.” That’s one thing I have neglected on this blog which is a shame and if my mother were around would probably nag at me until I fixed it. That woman loved her lip liner as much she loved her children, and was known to have perfectly colored and lined lips at all times. Recently I went to dinner with my Aunt Sharon, and wouldn’t you know it we both felt obligated to have our best and brightest lipstick on so as to make her proud. If impacting someones fashion/ beauty choices even a decade after your death isn’t being a trend setter well than heck I don’t know what is! But, again, that’s why I’m super stoked for this month’s fashion challenge because it’s actually challenging me to explore parts of fashion that I have not dedicated nearly as much attention to as they deserve. Only half way through and I already know I need to step up my accessory and lip game (thanks to mom and Kylie Jenner I know lip liner is no longer an option.)
There is a catch though with this challenge. You have to make it work with pieces that you already own! Which again is a challenge from the accessory front because for some reason most of my jewelry pieces have decided to break on me. So annoying and a pain to get fixed. But alas, a true fashionista makes everything work. 90’s kids might remember that infamous scene in the “Lizzie Mcguire Movie” where Lizzie’s arch nemesis Kate Sanders humiliates her at graduation in front of the entire student body by calling her “an outfit repeater.” That scene plays in my subconscious whenever I get ready in the morning. Yes. My biggest fear in life is being wardrobe shamed by a real life Kate Sanders and getting publicly humiliated for wearing the same outfit twice. But, that’s when switching tops with bottoms and changing your shoes, or the bag you accessorize it with comes in handy. Accessories are not only a girls best friend but a reputation saver as well. Thank you accessories!
Below are some of the highlights from the challenge thus far. Stay tuned for more!

First and foremost my sincerest apologies for taking a brief unannounced absence from blogging. So much has been happening in the past couple weeks, I actually haven’t’ had time to stop and smell the roses or take pictures in my fabulous outfits.
What has been taking up my time you may be wondering? Well, there’s always work. I got a new promotion and I’ll be working in San Diego soon! Hooray for being relocated back to the beach! Thank God! Casual beachwear is more my style anyways. And yes I’ve already picked out a handful of swimsuits as my daily uniform…(oh ya, except for when I’ll be working which will be at least 40 hours.) Also, I’ve recently invested in Disneyland Pass. Which has been years in the making. For awhile I was mad at Disneyland for the whole Libby Lu thing, but I’ve decided to find it in my heart to forgive them. And just in the nick of time too! Because two weeks ago, while sipping on magical star martinis, overlooking Paradise Pier in California Adventure, my best friend asked me to be a bridesmaid! I love everyday fashion but I also hold a special place in my heart for bridal fashion. For obvious reasons I can’t say much on her choice of dress but she looks stunning and classic and I could probably go on for at least another paragraph or so, but all I can say is that her fiancé is one lucky man! Not even Walt Disney could imagine a princess who was ever so beautiful!
While she has found her dress, us bridesmaids are on the mission to find ours. I love wearing dresses on a daily basis, but formal gowns shockingly have never really been my thing. Too much taffeta and I have a fear of looking back years later and looking like a tragic 80’s prom queen of a mess. Alas, I still have a few months to decide on just the right outfit to compliment my BFF! So be patient fellow readers, I promise to update you when I can but needless to say I have a lot of fashion to look forward to this year! Theres the wedding and then that pesky 10 year High School Reunion to dress for. To invest in a cocktail dress or Stella Mcartney suit? Decisions. Decisions.
Stop in the name of love for Valentino studded shoes.

So perhaps the title is far from glam but I truly believe every fashionista goes through this when doing the annual “spring cleaning.” I have always had a problem of holding on to things that hold even the slightest sentimental value. My Grandma used to say I would even hold on to wrapping paper because my best friend from pre-school wrapped up my birthday present in it. Ok, so I’m not that bad any more. But I do have some pieces in my wardrobe that despite what trends are current in season, or even if I haven’t worn it in forever I will never part ways with.

Such pretty pieces of course include my dance dresses. Prom, homecoming, formal, even my 8th grade graduation dance dress. The dress I wore to my mom’s funeral, my cousin’s etc. And then there is this gem. One of the highlights of my life was being selected to intern as a fashion editor for OrangeCounty.com. The moment the editor told me the internship of my dreams was mine, naturally I made it a life mission to have the most fabulous wardrobe, like ever. Hey, if I was writing about fashion I had to at least be fashionable (this still currently rings true.) Some of my fondest memories include walking through the office and thinking to myself “this is how Lauren and Whitney got their start.” And this romper is part of those magical memories. In addition to a few other pieces that I invested in during those 3 amazing months of learning and developing my writing skills in the most fashionable way possible, I will never part with them. They represent a part of my life where I was living my dreams. Not to mention the fact they’re classic Spring/ Summer ensembles, this romper by Joie being a perfect example of a So. Cal spring outfit. And trying to capture the spirit of my favorite holiday ever (simply because everything is pink) I decided to pair it with my favorite pink Alice and Olivia wedges.
