If Minnie Mouse wore denim shorts I think she’d approve of this outfit. Photo courtesy of my BFF Marie!
I have finally come to a point in my life where I can accept Minnie Mouse. This sounds crazy I’m aware of this but when I prepared my outfit for my trip to Disneyland yesterday I finally felt as though it was time to do an ode to everyone’s favorite female mouse.
For once in my life I can legitimately blame something on my mother, and that is my almost 2 decade long disdain for Minnie. Whelp, that is what happens folks when you tell a 5 year old waiting in line for the Haunted Mansion that she is actually waiting in line to meet Minnie Mouse. I knew something was fishy the second the doors shut and a super creepy voice came on the loud speaker. At that point I proclaimed to everyone in the sinking room that I hated Minnie Mouse, and I think I truly did until yesterday. So Minnie, I’m so very sorry I lost all these years of loving you, once again I blame my mother.
Needless to say, not only was it a matter of time before a self proclaimed girly girl such as myself decided to embrace a cartoon who loves pink, bows and polka dots. Also kudos to instagram user Disneybound001 for proving that an outfit to Disneyland can be just as magical as a carpet ride (if you didn’t catch that Aladdin reference we can’t be friends.)
Hanging here with Mater. Also, I had a bipolar moment half way through the day and decided to play with the shirt being tucked in. There were pros and cons to both. Shorts: 7 for All Mankind; Red Sparkly Loafers: Bakers; Sunglasses: From Sanrio Store bedazzled by me
In the regular world Halloween is when children dress up in costumes and beg for candy. In girl world, halloween is the one night a year when a girl can dress like a total slut and no other girl can say anything about it. The hard core girls just wear lingerie and some form of animal ears.
This year some celebs followed Regina George, others opted for a cuter more traditional Cady interpretation of Halloween- less slutty and either cute or scary.

Luxury retailer Barney’s has enlisted the help of some of Disney’s most beloved characters, Minnie, Daisy and Goofy to name a few to help with their 2012 Electric Holiday campaign.
I just found out about this today and though their new video teaser http://thewindow.barneys.com/sneak-peek-the-electric-holiday-video-teaser/, was uber cute. But alas after researching the concept I’ve come to find out Disney loving fashionistas are not as enthused as I am! Yes, I can see that the cartoons have been revamped to look as though they hang with the Ana Wintour Rachel Zoe crowd, but so what. It’s fashion and it’s Disney!
People, this idea was done in the name of fun and is only going to last through the holidays. If this is how Minnie enjoys her vacation to Paris, so be it. If Goofy decided to lose a little weight so as to impress his friends on the runway, kudos to him if it makes him happy. At the end of the day, a controversy over cartoons is pardon the cliche, but it’s a little goofy.
