Tis the season for changes, and for whatever reason I was recently compelled to invest in a pair of camo print jeans. I had a choice to invest in a pair of light washed or darker washed and I opted for the latter. Although they don’t photograph all that well I assure they look amazing in person! Dark camo, wax coated denim, yes please! And there are so many different ways to wear them! I can’t wait to give them an urban look by pairing them with some combat boots and a black beanie. Today I opted for a more military chic inspired look by pairing them with my favorite pair of wedged ankle booties, and my military green French Connection coat, perfect for a crisp So Cal Fall sunset (which was 80 degrees in case you were wondering.) I wouldn’t even know how to spend a Winter with snow.
They say you learn something new every day…today I learned you CAN hike in wedges. Who knew?!
Funny story, since I work out in the desert now I actually did experience a snowy afternoon. I thought it was rain. Never in my life have I seen it snow. And the few times I have ventured up to Big Bear to enjoy some fresh white snow I was never properly prepared. I showed up ready to snowboard in jeans once. My best friend perhaps prepared for this moment reminded me snow is water and quickly showed me he brought me an extra pair of snow board pants. Water proof! Who knew! The good news is I have no talent nor desire to ever pursue snowboarding as a recreational activity so no loss there.
I’ll trade a snowy day for a nice sunny one on the beach any day!
Nothing better then feeling sand beneath your toes.

I am a proud OC girl just as much as Summer Roberts. But sadly when it comes to devoting a whole week to all things OC Fashion, OC needs to step up their game. Don’t get me wrong, I know some amazing talented fashionistas in the region who live and breathe couture and who are thoroughly committed to bringing attention to how fab this lifestyle really is. And I’ve seen them put together stellar fashion productions. And yet the only memo I got regarding this was a teeny tiny little flyer I came across when I went to Fashion Island today.
Only a handful of stores were participating in the event, and when I walked in these stores were less then helpful in offering information. The only thing I knew for certain was Brandy Melville was closing promptly at 7 PM, due to a private event. Apparently private events mean customer service fails to exist for actual customers shopping prior to the event.
Finally, I’d had enough. There were not going to be any runways shows, style experts but rather pop up shops. Great! So select merchandise from participating vendors were going to be scattered across the mall? Yawn.
Alas, I figured I could stay and succumb to a lackluster attempt at “Style Week” or I could make a mad dash to the beach and enjoy a beautiful sunset. And talk about the best decision I’ve made all week! Nothing says OC quite like a serene sunset at Crystal Cove.
Friendly tip, don’t ever ask Suri for directions to Crystal Cove. I should have known better and at the end of the day I decided to trust what I know and follow the signs on PCH. If you leave it to Suri she might direct you to a boat destined for Catalina.
Gotta love slouchy sweaters.
Ballet flats are ok for an impromptu trip to the beach as long as you stay off the sand.
