Leave it to a true fashionista to even make a day of chores and catching up a fashion affair. Sometimes people blame their parents for all the negative things in their life, well I blame mine for the positives as well. See growing up I was fortunate enough to have parents who continuously motivated me to be a better person. Sometimes it was to their benefit, such as when it came time to do chores. And what was my motivation to be the best little worker bee I could be? Just like any other 4 year old in the history of humans and Disney movies on VHS I loved¬†Cinderella. I loved her so much I wanted to be just like her (until the Little Mermaid came around, sorry Cinderella!) Anyways before I started brushing my hair with a dinglehopper, I lived hoping and praying a Fairy Godmother would just magically appear and grace me with a lifetime’s worth of fabulous dresses. Either way, my mom utilized my love for a certain blue dress wearing blonde princess against me when she proposed a certain fact if I chose to neglect my chores for that particular day. If I had chosen to disregard my chores then I was no different than Drasella and Anastasia, the¬†ugly step sisters! Gasp! “No! I wanna be like Cinderella!” I responded in horror! I had not lived my whole 4 years of life, memorizing the words to “A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes” only to be compared to the ugliest Disney characters every imagined. I mean hello! Ugly is in their name! So you best believe I grabbed the closest broom I could find and hopped to sweeping and dusting everything in sight. As you can imagine, this only lasted so long. Like I mentioned, eventually I moved on to bigger and better princesses, and Ariel was more inclined to disregard her parents wishes. Ariel was more my style. But alas, I still like to carry out the essence of that lesson with me whenever I do chores, and that is you don’t have to be a mess when cleaning up one. Although I must say it is rather frustrating on the day when I’m getting dressed only to impress dust my makeup goes on flawless. Unlike the days I actually have a million and ten things to do, and it’s far from it. The struggle is real folks.

A dream is a wish your heart makes...well my heart is wishing for a clean room today. Where's Disney magic to make that happen with a snap of a finger. Anyone got the number for Mary Poppins?

Feeling Hippie Chic in LC

Today I was feeling a 60’s 70’s “My Girl Vibe.” And all I needed was a bike, and Macaulay Culkin as my BFF. Some days I just look at my closet and one piece just inspires the whole ensemble. Today, it was my LC Lauren Conrad floral and lace peasant top to release my inner Vada Thomas. While I always second guess being too matchy matchy, a floral necklace with a floral top just seemed to be the perfect combo to achieve the ultimate “flower child” look.

Jeans and a t-shirt a la' "My Girl."

Jeans and a t-shirt a la’ “My Girl.” I’m not much for Converse though.

While I have reservations about shopping at Kohls, (polyester and J. Lo inspired outfits, no thanks) I was sucked in by Lauren Conrad. I look to her as the every day, normal girl’s fashion icon. While yes I’d love to go out every day rocking the Nicole Richie look, let’s face it sometimes not only is it impossible to achieve EVERY DAY, but it’s also unnecessary. I realize this a complete contradiction to previous posts where I state I like wearing Louboutins even on the most mundane days. But some days I like to dress down, and this is me dressed down. And who better to create pieces for having a casual Saturday in So. Cal than the So. Cal fashion queen herself, Lauren Conrad.

I had written an article about her collection when it first debuted years ago when I was interning as a Fashion Editor for Orangecounty.com. Initially I reviewed it as a knock off of Free People and Joie, Fashion Blogger Anna James of Fashion Blvd, renewed my faith. Sometimes it’s not what you’re wearing but rather how you wear it. Plus, let’s face it not all couture is made of the finest silks with a tag that says made in Italy. While yes it’s mass made, and mostly of polyester nearly all of her pieces have cute little accents that make them classic and girly. My two favorite words when it comes to outfit selections.

Sometimes Ya Just Have To Walk on The Wild Side

So maybe because I’ve fallen in love with Grumpy Cat, I have now grown to appreciate cats. Which is huge considering my whole life up until this point I’ve cringed at the thought of cats. But between the adorable disgruntled feline and that super catchy soft kitty song from the “Big Bang Theory” I can’t help but appreciate a cute fluffy kitten.

Granted I will never be able to own a soft kitty, or a warm kitty little ball of fur because of horrendous allergies. Thus, the only cats I can own are of the stuffed or jewelry kind. Or in this case the print kind. I call it now, it’s only a matter of time before Urban adds a plush grumpy cat to sell next to their plush Boo the pomeranian toy.

Thus today, I think I stumbled upon one too many grumpy cat memes and alas my “OOTD” was inspired by my third new favorite animal. 1. Will always be dogs, 2. a dolphin but you really can’t incorporate a dorsal fin in to your outfit without turning some heads.

The heels granted might be too much, but if you had a pair of Louboutins wouldn’t you look for a chance to wear them any time you got?

who would have thought an $8 ring from Charming Charlie's would be my go to accessory of the summer!
