From the International Fashion Film Festival in La Jolla, to the first ever International Fashion Film Awards ceremony in Beverly Hills, these past few days have been filled with excitement, education and most importantly FASHION! Sometimes I think to myself I’m taking a risk and then I meet people with mile long lavender trains, and pop legends with blue hair. I could definitely learn to walk on more of a wild side when it comes to fashion decisions. Apparently the wild side has more color. Alas, the International Fashion Film Awards proved to be a night full of glamour and recognition for stars in the realm of Fashion Film from all around the world. I feel like I have watched so many of these films I’m starting to learn to speak French and Italian. Ok, that’s not true. But I am starting to realize that fashion around the globe means the same. It is an art form. A mean for someone to express how they feel.

The ceremonies kicked off with an introduction by Cinemoi President Daphna Ziman. Once again a lesson in fashion film history. The venue hosting the event, the Saban Theatre, located in beautiful Beverly Hills actually had quite the substantial history with legendary film stars including Marilyn Monroe. The talent that we were just about to recognize was described as the “merging of couture and film.” And with that, the awards got kicked into full gear. Awards were presented in categories such as Best Art Director, Best Styling, and Best Fashion Film. Although these films are not nearly as mainstream as blockbuster hits that we would all instantly recognize (there was an apology to Michael Bay for no nods to Optimus Prime,) they should not be discredited. Part of the allure and mystery of familiarizing one’s self with International Fashion Films is more than just hearing fashion described in a foreign language or a cool accent. It is stepping into the creative mind that is crazy beautiful enough to imagine fashion and produce stunning imagery through costume, makeup and digital talents. Really and truly it’s a breathtaking experience. One of my favorite films nominated for Best Film was “Urban Hippie” by Damien Krisl.

Half way through the ceremony Lance Bass presented Melissa and Joan Rivers the IFFA Icon Award. And rightfully so! Before them nobody had the audacity to ask fashions elite on the red carpet’s “who are you wearing?” I’m not going to lie, knowing I would be in the presence of the Rivers women I was TERRIFIED about the potential to be called out literally by the fashion police. Although, I think I would have been honored at the thought that time was even taken to judge my outfit. One day!

Michael Costello even presented an Icon Award to Gigi Lepage, for her groundbreaking and legendary costume design contributions to fashion film. One of her most memorable creations was designing the costumes for “Grace of Monaco.” Oh ya, and she’s worked with little ol’ labels such as Cartier and Dior. Truthfully, I wasn’t really a fan until I heard her compare dressing Nicole Kidman to dressing Barbie. Anyone who can compare a life accomplishment to Barbie is fabulous in my book. Plus, I’m pretty sure I heard her say something along the lines of “Ja’ Dor.” Let’s be honest here, the only foreign language I understand is Christian Louboutin, Dior and Yves Saint Laurent. Oh ya and the other ones but those ones are more fun to roll off the tongue. I’m still mad at Yves Saint Laurent for dropping the Yves. Some of us liked impressing people by pronouncing that! Which speaking of impressive, I was most certainly proud of Michael Costello for overcoming the technical issues that arose during this presentation like a pro. Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn taught him well. Actually, scratch that. Costello looked as though he was as talented at public speaking as he is creating goddess gowns for women with perfect silhouettes.

I’m so proud of Hollywood for taking a break from mainstream and taking time to recognize people who work even harder to share their imagination and vision of fashion with the world. After all where would Hollywood be without iconic fashion contributions such as that white Marilyn Monroe dress or even that “Breakfast At Tiffany’s” dress. In the infamous words of Yves Saint Laurent, “Fashion fades, style is eternal.” And what better way to eternalize style than to capture it on film?

When you can't decide on one color wear them all! I love that my co-worker refers to this as the Power Rangers Necklace.

The event was held at the Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills. In addition to having historical relevance to legendary fashionistas in film such as Marilyn Monroe it also exuded beauty and elegance that can only be described as Hollywood glamour.

I'm always amazed by legend in the making Michael Costello. His silhouettes are not only ingenious, and breathtaking but I truly feel as though he turns the woman wearing the design into a piece of art. I've been watching his career flourish since I first saw him at a Project Ethos event about 2 years ago. No doubt he will go down in history as one of the greats just like the ones whose lives and contributions were celebrated during the event's "In Memorium" portion.

Ok, so I knew Lance Bass was going to be a presenter of the event. What I did not know was that he would be walking right past me. Whether it was my subconscious reminding me I'm a Backstreet girl through and through (event though growing up the 4 walls of my bedroom were equally devoted to Nsync, Backstreet, Britney and Leonardo Dicaprio) I guess years of feeling abandoned have decided a team to declare my loyalty too. Sorry, Lance. I'm sure Nsync had the ability to go down in history as a top selling group, but let's be real. The Backstreet Boys promised to never break my heart and have never told their fans bye bye bye. And plus they would never express disdain over delivering RECYLCED content to their fans (even though I totes understand why they would be frustrated in the first place.) But let's be real. Backstreet cares about their fans. Brian Littrell would have stopped because they have a sixth sense like that (true story, he's stopped to acknowledge me and my equally passionate about this kind of stuff BFF.) Ok, my rant is done. LOVE the blue hair Lance!

Cinemoi President Daphna Ziman looked breathtaking in her stunning red gown. I loved seeing attendees of the awards show with gowns that were clearly inspired by the Hollywood fashionistas of past. I think Mary Pickford, one of the first actresses to make glamour synonymous with Hollywood, would have been proud.

Styles that still resonate with todays fashion. I think Mary Pickford, one of the first actresses to make glamour synonymous with Hollywood, would have been proud.

During the event I had the pleasure of bumping into a local clutch designer, Shakayla Burris. Oh ya and she is the CEO, and Creative Director for Freestyle Inc. Oh, ya and her outfit was fab! Her website I was informed is relaunching this Friday. Definitely gonna check it out!

This picture doesn't even do one of Shakayla's clutche's justice. I love the color, and I loved the size. Sometimes a girl wants to carry around more than her keys and cell phone. Way to go Ms. Burris! Hope to see you debuting on a runway soon!

Trend alert! Jumpers are everywhere. Not only did I spot several attendees of this event wearing them, including the adorable Jordin Sparks.

No words necessary to explain what was going on here. Although suddenly I have an interest to see a Cirque Du Soleil show.

Some of the most mesmerizing and time consuming costumes from various Cirque du Soleil shows. Some of these costumes were covered with thousands of Swarovski crystals. It takes me a day to bedazzle a tape dispenser. I can only imagine how long it took them to embellish some of these pieces.

I'm not quite sure whether or not it's taboo to point this out but the glamorization of the gap tooth makes me feel as though I was robbed because I was forced to get braces at a young age and had my dental issues fixed.

So this newest update is no longer me being the proud self proclaimed drama queen that I am, it is OFFICIALLY summer! The only difference this means for me really is that I have more to look forward too. More days at Disneyland, more days spent laying on the beach, swimsuit posts, (insert gasp here) the possibilities for true blue (or in my case mostly pink) So. Cal fashion are endless. They say that you can’t wear white after Labor Day, but on this first week of summer I thought what better way to celebrate than in my favorite white ensemble.

Sun dresses are my absolute favorite summer piece. Like I’ve said many times before, I am a girly girl and I live for longer sunnier days when the expectation from a fashion perspective is to wear pretty frilly dresses and embellish with bright floral accessories. So is it a surprise to anyone that Spring and Summer are my favorite seasons? Granted, I can be seen wearing this items all year round but it so much easier to shop for this pieces during this time of the year. Also, confession time, this is the year I usually indulge far too much in accessories. I have a horrible over indulgent problem of when I can’t make up my mind on something not taking one but two. For example, you’ve probably noticed the sunglasses I’m wearing in this post, in other posts but in black. Coco Chanel didn’t decide on just black or white so she opted for both, so why can’t I? I don’t believe in living life with regrets and while I would have regretted having to choose one over the other, I do not regret having two pairs of fabulous and perfect sparkly Prada sunnies.

I'd like to say I can now start wearing all white since it is now officially summer, but let's face it. It's summer almost all year round in so cal. Hence this is my official welcome summer outfit!

Confession time…Halloween is my favorite holiday. For someone who works retail, it’s one of the few holidays I can actually take off and celebrate in peace. To those brave souls who work in the Halloween stores, I applaud you and thank you for your service. Don’t get me wrong, while I love the foofiness of a store bought costume, I thoroughly enjoy calling upon my inner Martha Stuart to see what I can come up with. While it is my lifelong dream to dress up one day as Britney Spears from her MTV VMA “Slave For You Performance.” My abs need more definition before I can make that happen.

Alas, this year I opted for Barbie. She’s my fashion icon and she seemed more fun than Coco Chanel. The best part of being me and dressing up as Barbie? I really didn’t have to do much to prepare other then invest in a black and white striped leotard from Forever 21 achieve the “Classic Barbie” look. That look was for last weekends parties. And for yesterday, out of fear for being not just an “outfit repeater” but even worst a “BARBIE OUTFIT REPEATER” (the horror and I shudder at the thought) I opted for this baby blue number and went out as Malibu Barbie. I had a few people tell me I didn’t nail it. I was polite and explained I knew where I strayed from the original, but I really wanted to tell them “Hunny I’ve been a Barbie fan since as long as I can remember. My bumper sticker says ‘Backstreet Barbie.’ I know Barbie.”

There are so many great things about dressing up as Barbie! My makeup gets to be sparkly and pink! There is no such thing to wearing too much sparkle. And I finally have an excuse to wear my hot pink Alice and Olivia Rain Coat. This years costume was sooo much fun! People actually came up to me and shook my hand because of how brilliant my outfit was. Some people thought I had dressed up as Gaga, another thought I had dressed up as Elle Woods from “Legally Blonde.” My response to that is I object! But I do love her too.

All this talk of Beach Barbie even inspired an ocean themed for my pumpkin. Ordinary is not in my vocabulary but thingamabob and dinglehopper are. FYI I did this completely free hand. I wouldn't even know where to get a stencil, but I did get the idea for the silhouette from Pintrest.

All I know is I can’t wait till next year! And who knows, maybe I’ll do this Barbie thing every year. Lord knows there are more than enough outfit choices, and hopefully next year I’ll have a hot pink corvette or at least a Barbie dream house to match.

My outfit today was inspired by none other then my grandma who prior to me getting ready for the day called me to tell me the Dodgers had just scored! If you know me, you know I am not a sports girl. You’re lucky I know the difference between a baseball and a basketball, and I can count on one hand the amount of times I’ve showed up to a bar to actually watch a game. I’m going to tell you right now those adventures were never my idea but I went with it.

Nonetheless, my family is true to the blue. Dodger Blue that is. If you’re looking for a recap of the game, stop now because you will be severely disappointed. I just realized today I can support the Pinedo family’s team beyond investing in a team shirt from Victoria’s secret. Instead, I can just make a proclamation to the world by rocking our team’s colors. Thus, fellow fashionistas we have today’s ensemble. A Dodger Blue blazer by BCBG, and matching sparkly blue Chanel heels.

Go Dodgers!

So maybe because I’ve fallen in love with Grumpy Cat, I have now grown to appreciate cats. Which is huge considering my whole life up until this point I’ve cringed at the thought of cats. But between the adorable disgruntled feline and that super catchy soft kitty song from the “Big Bang Theory” I can’t help but appreciate a cute fluffy kitten.

Granted I will never be able to own a soft kitty, or a warm kitty little ball of fur because of horrendous allergies. Thus, the only cats I can own are of the stuffed or jewelry kind. Or in this case the print kind. I call it now, it’s only a matter of time before Urban adds a plush grumpy cat to sell next to their plush Boo the pomeranian toy.

Thus today, I think I stumbled upon one too many grumpy cat memes and alas my “OOTD” was inspired by my third new favorite animal. 1. Will always be dogs, 2. a dolphin but you really can’t incorporate a dorsal fin in to your outfit without turning some heads.

The heels granted might be too much, but if you had a pair of Louboutins wouldn’t you look for a chance to wear them any time you got?

Its finally cold which means it's time to bundle up!

Target has started putting out Christmas decorations, department stores have started playing their favorite holiday tunes (the only time of year I appreciate Mariah Carey) and mother nature has finally gotten the memo, its time to share fall with us California folks.

While it breaks my heart to put away my favorite wedges and summer dress until next year, I cannot wait to add to my outterwear collection. So many labels have must have coats for every fashionista to embrace the cold fronts that are sure to come through! This Free People leopard print coat is perfect fall addition, and is only $248. I’m love, love loving the black trim on it!

Alice and Olivia is also another label making to die for coats! Whether you’re looking for a longer trench style, or a shorter peacoat Stacy B. has one for every level of fall intencity.

My love of winter coats has been fueled every since I saw Julianne Hough romp around Paris with Ryan Seacrest wearing an uber cute red, ruffled Elie Tahari coat.

Some people fall in love in Paris, others fall in love with what people wear in Paris

Thank you mother nature! Looks like it’s time for this fashionista to go shopping!
