While most people mourn the beginning of what is traditionally a 5 day work week for those with traditional jobs, I see it as an opportunity to celebrate. Especially when I’m on day two of my week long vacation. And while the thought of lying around all day in my PJ’s watching countless hours of law and order is enticing, I much rather prefer dressing up for blog shoots, working out and soaking up the sun. I stumbled across a captivating quote on Instagram yesterday (follow me at Just_Jess_Fashion.) The caption read “the fear of wasting a great outfit on an insignificant day.” And truthfully dedicated readers I have had this fear all my life. I truly believe it is this fear that led to the inspiration for creating a blog. While I may not live in Hollywood, or live an ultra glamorous life comprised of day to day professional photo shoots. I live each day fulfilling it by my definitions of happy, and that is enough for me.
Today what made me happy was putting together an ensemble that reminded me of my ultimate fashion icon, Holly Golightly. I know I’ve blogged about how much I adore this legendary fashionista but I could seriously type for days on how I idolize the classic, effortless and fabulousness that is Audrey’s most infamous role. I initially opted for a more casual look. But casual is borderline a swear word in my vocabulary. So rather than pairing this weekday appropriate top with a pair of shorts, I opted instead for my favorite leather skirt (which by the way was only $7 at H&M. Gotta love those end of season blow out sales.) As I was looking in the mirror trying to figure out what was missing I looked down and low and behold my pearl necklace, also from H&M, just happened to be sitting on the counter. It seemed to be screaming “pick me!” Alas, I put it on and I instantly felt like Cinderella gazing at her reflection after being transformed by the fairy godmother. And when you can compare a wardrobe decision to feeling like a Disney Princess, you know you’ve put together a good ensemble and totally worthy of sharing with the world. Thus although nothing life shattering happened today, I did have an opportunity to share my great decision with you, my loyal readers, and that is today’s biggest accomplishment. Take that insignificant day!

So literally I was stopped on the street today by a woman who concurred with the statement displayed on my tank. She exclaimed, “hunny, you are absolutely right. Fashion does fade and style is eternal.” I giggled and responded with “Amen!” The world is full of great fashion quotes. It amazes me there isn’t a collection comprised of infamous Carrie Bradshaw quotes alone! This little gem was inspired by none other than YSL. It was either this or the top that proclaimed something along the lines of shopping is cheaper than seeing a shrink. Which is totally true by the way.
It’s rare that I commit to graphic tees (Wildfox and Lauren Moschi being the only exception to this rule.) Wearing a graphic tee is a lot of responsibility! First you have to agree with the saying. And especially after today it has to be worthy of a stranger stopping to agree. Although, graphic tees are a fun way for a fashion blogger to break away from the overly used fashion quotes edited in various filters, that make even the most generic Instagram users seem like they have a valid and educated opinion about life in the fashion world. Sadly, I’ve already seen tees that exclaim “But first, lemme take a selfie.” That is one quote that you will not see this fashion blogger displaying an any article of clothing any time soon. Like most pieces that hang in my closet, I prefer to keep my sayings classic and timeless.

My boyfriend hates that I get ready for no reason at all. I guess I’m the one of those girls who “get’s all dressed up with nowhere to go.” But as long as I’m healthy that’s a good enough reason for me to get dressed up for the day! Once again, I learned that from my mama. Even on some of her worse days she still found strength to do her hair and makeup and if it’s one lesson I keep with me always it’s to find the strength to play in makeup even though the world might not get to see.
Hair and makeup are only half the battle though. That’s where I compromise and I “dress down” for a day of lounging around and spending quality time with my hunny. Then I thank the fashion gods for giving us Wildfox. The answer to the girl with nothing to do’s prayers, Wildfox always has cute tee’s and comfy sweaters with fun sayings and pictures of destinations I’d love to adventure off to one day. Today I was clearly dreaming of being in Hawaii. While I love to match things through contrast, today I opted to synchronize my top and bottoms to have them flow effortlessly into one piece. Sadly, this was meant to be a top but being pint size it ended up fitting me more like a dress. However it was far too sheer and a little short in the front, thus I was inspired to go the matching shorts route. Can you tell? Not only is this top the answer to a lazy day’s fashion prayers but it has potential to totally be re-worked as a cover up for my days spent at the beach, which hopefully are only just a few weeks away! Malibu Beach Barbie anyone?
One of my favorite pairs of shoes in my shoe collection, my pretty pink Valentinos.
Hat: Saks (I know I wear it a lot but my roots will be taken care of next week!) Shirt: Wildfox Jeans: J Brand
I have gone on rants before about how much I love Wildfox. However, with LA Fashion Week, or Style Week as it is so stylishly referred to now I am carefully selecting my outfits for the next few days based on their relation to LA. What better way to represent one of the Fashion epicenters of the world then by promoting home town success stories right?
Thus ladies and fashion forward gents, I bring you my outfit of the day. Entire outfit with the exception of the glasses (Prada) and shoes (Valentino) LA inspired and made.
And yes my loyal followers, the rumors are true and I have been approved media to cover next weeks events! So stay tuned for all the latest fashion debuting on the runways of LA!
Got a feeling or emotion you need to share with the world? Wildfox has got all your crazy wildest dreams covered.

Today I took an adventure out to visit my favorite person in the whole world, my Grandma. Nobody has influenced my personal style more so than my Grandma. I love when looking at a pair of 6 inch stiletto Gucci heels and I exclaim “My Grandma would love these!” I get the expression of confusion, “Really? Your Grandma?” Yeah, sorry but not sorry my Grandma is a fashionista and yours is not? However, her love of high heels has resulted in 2 knee surgeries which has consequently inspired my love and investment in super cute flats as well.
Today I learned several things. Always splurge if you feel it’s necessary, and especially if you fall in love with a pair of shoes that do not already hold a place in your closet (or my case a shoe rack.) Miley, please take note of what you’re doing. It’s not cute and it’s not artsy. It’s plain and simple second hand embarasment, and it’s offensive to my Grandma, and apparently Cher. Annd shocking today I actually introduced my Grandma to the September issue of Vogue. I think I need to get her an issue. We could sit and talk fashion and clothes for hours. The apple does not fall far from the fabulously dressed tree, and of all the things in life to be grateful for, that is perhaps the one that surpasses all my other blessings.
My favorite place in the whole world.
My Grandma once met Marilyn Monroe. She’s always been up there with the likes of Hollywood legends like Audrey Hepburn.
