I love days when I’m decked out in my favorite hippie attire, however, I love getting back to my girly roots. Any day started off with bright colors that would only make Barbie herself proud is destined to be a fabulous day. All week long I’ve been getting compliments on my nails which are currently painted in Malibu Barbie blue, pink and pink sparkles. One person explained, “I thought I did my nails good, but you did it so much better!” It’s amazing how choosing different colors really makes a difference. And it’s so funny because that decision merely comes from nothing more than me trying to save a little money here and there. For about 2 years I was known for always having polka dots on my nails. But that extra $5 for something that I can do by myself at home just seemed like a waste to me. Thus one day, my old nail guy Dan (shout out to Dan at ProfesionNail in Fullerton, best nail salon in Orange County if you ask me. Not only do you get pretty nails but I always got a history lesson in fashion…anyways) encouraged me to try something different. Knowing I like to stand out when it comes to my fashion sense he encouraged me to try a “contrast nail.” And for the past 2 or 3 years now, my finger nails have never matched. And alas, I always stand out because of it. One of my favorite sayings in life “why fit in when you were born to stand out?”F
I don’t leave the pop of color just to my nails though. As evident with this wardrobe decision, as a self proclaimed Barbie girl, I just love bright colors in general. I know in my last blog post I practically denounced the color green. It’s not my favorite like pink, but I do have an appreciation for the color. And then of course any outfit that prompts me to accessorize with some Tarina Tarantino sparkle is a smart investment. Some fashionistas will advise to fill your closet with as many basics and neutral colors as possible. I can totally understand why that would be a logical investment. However, once you have as my bright colors in your wardrobe such as I do, outfits just seem to put themselves together. It’s like Barbie and I share the same closet! Ok, that was the last Barbie reference at least for 2 weeks. Alas, I’m a Barbie girl in a Barbie world. Ok. That was the last one. Pinky promise!
I love your dress Jess. You have styled it beautifully.
