Leave it to a true fashionista to even make a day of chores and catching up a fashion affair. Sometimes people blame their parents for all the negative things in their life, well I blame mine for the positives as well. See growing up I was fortunate enough to have parents who continuously motivated me to be a better person. Sometimes it was to their benefit, such as when it came time to do chores. And what was my motivation to be the best little worker bee I could be? Just like any other 4 year old in the history of humans and Disney movies on VHS I loved Cinderella. I loved her so much I wanted to be just like her (until the Little Mermaid came around, sorry Cinderella!) Anyways before I started brushing my hair with a dinglehopper, I lived hoping and praying a Fairy Godmother would just magically appear and grace me with a lifetime’s worth of fabulous dresses. Either way, my mom utilized my love for a certain blue dress wearing blonde princess against me when she proposed a certain fact if I chose to neglect my chores for that particular day. If I had chosen to disregard my chores then I was no different than Drasella and Anastasia, the ugly step sisters! Gasp! “No! I wanna be like Cinderella!” I responded in horror! I had not lived my whole 4 years of life, memorizing the words to “A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes” only to be compared to the ugliest Disney characters every imagined. I mean hello! Ugly is in their name! So you best believe I grabbed the closest broom I could find and hopped to sweeping and dusting everything in sight. As you can imagine, this only lasted so long. Like I mentioned, eventually I moved on to bigger and better princesses, and Ariel was more inclined to disregard her parents wishes. Ariel was more my style. But alas, I still like to carry out the essence of that lesson with me whenever I do chores, and that is you don’t have to be a mess when cleaning up one. Although I must say it is rather frustrating on the day when I’m getting dressed only to impress dust my makeup goes on flawless. Unlike the days I actually have a million and ten things to do, and it’s far from it. The struggle is real folks.
