There is nothing like celebrating your independence than doing so in style. True, if it were up to me I would have celebrated in a bikini lounging by the pool or catching some waves at a beach, but alas when you work in retail, such luxuries are non existent. After catering 8 hours to tourists who have no concept of how special the 4th of July is, I came home from work and immediately scoured my wardrobe for 4th of July essentials. After days of putting together my outfit in my head, I decided on a blue paisley printed linen top by Splendid, white lace shorts by Free People, hat by H&M, and gold gem gladiators by DVF. So I’m a label whore, sue me.
In case you were unaware, it has been hot in Southern California, particularly in the desert areas. Which has it’s pros don’t get me wrong. Like I burn almost as much calories walking to my car as I would running on the treadmill for 30 minutes. But it’s rather difficult to make cute wardrobe choices considering it is triple digits outside, and if I could I’d walk around wearing practically nothing, I would. I know we just celebrated our freedom but nobody should be that free unless you’re rocking a Britney circa 2000 body. Alas, I decided on this chic and cool (in the literal sense) outfit that was slightly inspired by Mrs. Banks from Mary Poppins. I was always fascinated by her independent spirt and the hat is an ode to her fight for equality for women. WELL DONE MISS BANKS! I realize she was British, but a fight for freedom is a fight for freedom. Completely random I am aware, but what can I say I am a random person. I hope everyone enjoyed their fourth just as much as I did. In the company of loved ones, and rocking a fierce outfit.
